The Flaming Lips - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

Taken from a a live XFM radio session, this is the Flaming Lips covering "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", which has become a staple of their live sets. Just Wayne and piano, it's just the thing to wind out the year.

Loose Fur - "Be Not So Fearful"

A track taken from the December 7, 2002 show at St. Anne's Warehouse in Brooklyn by Loose Fur, the 'supergroup' featuring Jeff Tweedy, Jim O'Rourke and Glenn Kotche. These mp3s have been the top referrer to my site of late... this song is very pretty and very straight Tweedy, wouldn't be out of place on a Wilco record. Some of the other Fur stuff is more out-there.

Marine Research - "Sick And Wrong"

In 1999, Built To Spill and Marine Research (who used to be Heavenly) put out a split 7" wherein they covered each others songs, with marvelous results. Here's the Marine Research side of it, the BTS track can be found on their The Normal Years compliation.
