CONTEST – Athlete Prize Pack

This here is the equivalent of me taking a day off. Got stuff in the hopper but they haven’t coalesced into post form yet. So for now, you get this.

I’ve given the UK’s Athlete no small amount of ribbing in the past over their critical disdain and for that, I feel a little bad. After all – I’m completely agnostic about the band. I’d never listened to them before hitting up their MySpace while writing this post up and, well, they’re not what I’d call remarkable but certainly not as abhorrent as their Metacritic scores implied.

And though I’ve never bought into the “50,000,000 Elvis Fans” logic, that Athlete have the fanbase to conduct a short North American tour in support of their new album
Beyond The Neighbourhood, which kicks off next Tuesday right here in Toronto at Lee’s Palace, well that says something (possibly just that you can take this town’s Anglophilia to the bank, but I digress). And hey, maybe one of those fans is you! If that’s the case, then your ship has come in. Courtesy of Cornerstone Promotions, I’ve got three Athlete prize packs to give away.

The grand prize winner will receive:
– A copy of Beyond the Neighborhood on LP
– An autographed 7″ single (presumably by the band – autograph and single both)
– An Athlete T-Shirt
– A silk-screened poster (presumably with band-related imagery)
– A limited edition Beyond the Neighborhood CD
– One CD single of “Hurricane” containing a number of remixes
– Two autographed booklets (of some description, presumably Athlete-related)

While two runner-up winners will receive:
– A copy of Beyond the Neighborhood on LP
– An autographed 7″ single (see above)
– Two autographed booklets (see above)
