the best canadian album (and one of the best overall) from last year and from the last several years is “my favourite thing” from videotape. also the rural alberta advantage (which i got at chromewaves’ recommendation last year sometime, so, er, propers or whatever) is rather excellent.

still, there are some worthy albums on the list like soft airplane, women, and the japandroids album is a lot of fun. begone dull care has it’s moments but i don’t really love it. apparently i need to hear the woodpigeon album. i’ve been meaning to and now i’m motivated.

I probably need to take that Elbow listing down… after the Phoenix website removed the listing, I’ve found nothing to confirm that show is happening. I still hope it will, but know nothing more than what was removed from the Phoenix site…

of the long list, i own four recordings under consideration: Bruce Peninsula, Chad VanGaalen, Timber Timbre and Junior Boys// I would be pleased with any of these selections as a winner…on a side note, i think Begone Dull Care by JB is vastly underrated – this from someone who wasn’t too fond of their previous output.
