Thanks, Frank. I see she's with Glasvegas until Boston (a couple of days before the Mod Club show), then disappears until rejoining them at Coachella. A shame, I was looking forward to seeing her!

hey frank,

sorry i missed you this year! your sx's have become a far cry from the unauspicious beginning when we first met, haven't they? enjoyed reading your coverage though I didn't see any of the same shows.

we caught echo at the convention center and agree that ian and will sounded as good as ever though with far less stage presence than in their heyday. the last album remains one of my favorites of theirs which is saying quite a bit! they played a new song "think i need it too" at the show we saw and given the strength of it i hope the upcoming album is just as good.

did they play ocean rain at rusty spur? it's probably the only one of their 4 shows suitable for that kind of closer and I wondered if I had missed my all time favorite songs...

tough to say what the hell is going with Ida Maria... visa issues nixed her two official SxSW showcases though she made Perez Hiton's thing on Saturday night. She just re-signed with a major label after being so publically gleeful about no longer being on a major and it seems she's bailed on a good chunk of the Glasvegas tour, though is still doing some dates. Not, Toronto though. She'll definitely have her own tour soon, though.

Sounds like Echo were in fine form, and the Star's Ben Rayner (http://www.thestar.com/article/605300) seems to agree with you (looks like he was at a different venue). I've seen them several times (dating from early 80s), most recently at the Carlu in 2005, and enjoyed their new stuff (Siberia had just been released) almost as much as the classics. Let's hope they return here before too long.

Just noticed that Ida Maria are no longer opening for Glasvegas here -- any idea what's up?

Seeing Wintersleep live was quite an eye opener for me as well, when they supported White Lies (!?) in Copenhagen earlier this month.
