Now that the day has (just barely) passed for this year, and at the risk of getting all Narnia on you, here's to musically celebrating winter in a Christmas-free way: how about almost all of Bjork's Vespertine? "Frosti" alone can wordlessly conjure up an idyllic trek through the snow, sounding like a xylophone played on icicles. And, closer to home, any number of Weakerthans tunes have winter imagery at their chilly cores.

Anyone care to add to the list?

Enjoy your vacation and your soon-to-be-clean apartment! I'm not a huge fan of Christmas music, but I put together sort of mix (via links) a week or two ago. I highly recommend Chris Hatfield's "Born Again Pagan" and Lightning Love's "Holiday."
