Bill's made a dig at Morrissey at every single T.O. show I've seen him play since '85 (we're talking about a dozen or so).

"Voltron of obnoxiousness"...this made me chuckle out loud. It also reminded me of those Transformers colossi that were fused togther with different Decepticons. Anyway, it was a very effective metaphor for those show shit disturbers.

These photos are your best photos yet. Love the gig photos! When's Billy coming back to Toronto? Also did Billy perform "Waiting For The Great Leap Forward"? I've never seen Billy live but if he does come back in September and I get to go, he MUST play that song. It's a singalong if I've ever heard one(and it's one of the only songs you've probably ever catch me singing along to). Sorry I couldn't make it out Saturday. BTW, have a great time at SXSW and keep us posted.

Billy Bragg was on Air America Radio's Rachel Maddow Show this morning. You can hear it here:

http://podcast.rbn.com/aira...

Bragg's segment starts at 58mins. It's just an interview, he does not perform.
Frank,
I've enjoyed your blog over the last year (discovered it from your coverage of the day show at Emo's last SxSW...with Stars,Amanset, and others)
I wanted to suggest a band for you to see this week (if you haven't already heard them or heard of them): Octopus Project. Their album 'One Ten Hundred Thousdand Million' is great, but to hear the songs live is amazing. They sound like the soundtrack to a movie in which the members of Explosions in the Sky get trapped in a discotheque full of zombies (or possibly vampires) and they have to 'rock' their way out... Its flippen awesome.... live drums and guitars over some great dance beats. Their website has mp3s for downloading.

I see they precede SLGTM on Wednesday night. Well, have a great SxSW trip.
I'm pretty sure I was RIGHT behind you at the show, and I'd like to echo all of your thoughts about tipsy-mc-drinks-a-lot and her friend. I mean, those three guys were annoying enough with the one douchebag being particularly loud and obnoxious, but those two ladies were absolutely unbearable. It put a smile on my face when the security guard cut her down ("You are DRUNK!"). Of course, she follows that up by jumping around and banging into everyone around her (particularly me), as I tried to avoid clocking her with my elbow.
Needless to say, you would have been doing a public service if you had clocked her. I think you would have gotten a round of applause.
And, the photos and review are terrific. It echoes most of my same thoughts.

yeah, talkers are one thing, but this girl was actively talking to and harrassing the people around her, such as myself, and I think that's what set off security. I won't get into specifics but I was really ready to just turn around and drop her. And I don't think anyone would have objected.

There's nothing more frustrating then loud-talkers, especially at an acoustic/solo show. I hope and pray I don't end up by the obligatory blatherers when Billy plays here next week.

I've had to learn to reach a near-zen state when I'm stuck by their like... given the fact that I'm usually recording, it's not just me they're going to annoy, but anyone I end up sharing with (case in point: 'Loveslave' in the Weddoes set I just posted).

Feels silly to even complain about it anymore, it happens so often, and has been happening for so long. You're lucky security even cared...

Thanks for the write-up, you've got me even more psyched to see him again (and, like you, I'll be hoping for more from Worker's Playtime).
