Repulsion

Dinosaur Jr tells The Village Voice why they were so dysfunctional the first time around – “We were all socially retarded” (Via Brooklynvegan). And in the “ad nauseum” department, the band recounts over and over again how much they hated each other when they were younger but how much better it is now to The Tampa Tribune, The Washington Post, The Shepherd Express, Revolutions Live and Creative Loafing. EQ doesn’t care about the drama, just the recording secrets. Most links and photo via the Freakscene.net message boards.

The Dino Jr reunion tour hits Toronto this Sunday night. To my moderate surprise, even with it less than a week away, I’m still not feeling any sort of overwhelming desire to get a ticket and go. If someone wants to GIVE me one, that’s cool, but if not? I’ll find other ways to occupy my time. Actually, now that I think about it, I’m out of commission for most of this weekend anyway, so perhaps my indifference is for the best.

Since YTV was weeks ahead of the Cartoon Network in showing new episodes of JLU, the season has been over for a few weeks now here in Canada. But for those south of the border who don’t do the bit torrent thing, I won’t spoil it for you…

just wanted to say how much I love the site Frank! Been subcribed to the feed for a while now and it is always the first one I check each day.

    hey orlando

lake holiday CDs? Seriously? Haha. If you’re talking about the album, it has finally been mastered and I think has been sent out to the label. I haven’t heard almost anything from it since I tracked my parts, to be honest. I’m glad there’s some positive response, though. I think they’re looking at putting it out in the Fall – you can check with the label at http://…/ or Five Seventeen at http://…/ – he usualyl gets the scuttlebutt before I do. All I know is that I will hopefully get a few copies to hand out to friends and save for posterity.

If you want the EPs, check Five Seventeen’s site – he’s got all that stuff uploaded and available online.

  7. david says:

I was hoping you were going to play with Lake Holiday at Popfest, Frank, that would spur me into going.

  8. Frank says:

haha, thanks, but my days with Lake Holiday are a thing of the past. I think Brad is going to do the Popfest thing solo.

I am all over the record though, so you can buy that. Not that I think I’d get any money from that. Oh well.

    frank,

I was at the Atlanta DinoJr. show this weekend and I’m going tonight at Summerstage. I can’t recommend the show enough. I was sort of nervous getting these pricey tix: "This show better be worth it…" but Atlanta plain blew me away. Without a doubt, the loudest show I’ve seen in 5 years. Incredible sludge.

I second alpobreath’s comment on the Atlanta show. If you are even moderately interested in Dinosaur Jr., try to make it out to the show. They were freakin’ sensational!
