Pebbles & Weeds

The new Harry Potter book is 768 pages. That’s madness. I like Don McKellar’s analysis of J.K. Rowling’s next magnum opus.

“What could Harry possibly be doing? Does he turn out to be the Messiah battling the Antichrist?”

NME is reporting that there will two double-disc collections of Spiritualized rarities coming out this year, the first in March. I like Spiritualized as much as the next orch-rock obsessed indie boy, but that’s a LOT of material. If it’s actual new songs, I would probably get em. If it’s remixes remixes remixes… err.

The spiritualized tracklisting are rarities that existed on singles not represented on neither ‘laser guided melodies’ nor ‘pure phase’. There is some worthy material there, specifically on CD1. I have the ‘Any Way That You Want Me’ on 7" vinyl, with ‘Feel so Sad’ and ‘Why Dont You Smile Now’ on 12" vinyl. For some reason, ‘Why Dont You Smile Now’ strikes me as a Velvet Underground cover.

Even the ‘Medication’ EP, though re-recorded on ‘Pure Phase’ is a different version.

Damn. Now I remember. Feel So Sad is off the last Spacemen3 record ‘Recurring’ and my brother took my 12" vinyl out west. Bastard. Keep an eye open for ‘Recurring’ it is worth its weight in gold.
